Addicted to Pixel Art

I never thought I’d find myself in this art form. And let me clarify, I’m not claiming to be a professional (or even that I’m particularly good at it), but I’m having SO MUCH fun creating pixels. Today, I stumbled upon an app on the Apple Store that makes life WAY easier for anyone wanting to dive into the pixel world (Pixquare) but can’t afford to invest in more robust software. To make matters worse, the dollar has skyrocketed in my country, so I really can’t spend on “luxuries”.

Lately, I’ve been questioning my career choices… my professional future… and so on. I still have three more years of my PhD, but I’m getting older and will finish it at 38y/o . I’ve spent so many years dedicated to academia that I fear I might come out of it without a stable job. Because of that, I’ve been procrastinating a little at the end of this year, but at least on something I deeply enjoy: computers. Everything about computers makes me happy. Whether it’s organizing folders, playing games, or now, making art. And that’s when the thought struck me: why didn’t I choose this field as my career?

I even tried to learn Go Lang and spent a semester studying Systems Analysis and Development, but I couldn’t fully commit because, well, I have a family to support. It’s not that I regret my choice—it’s not quite that. In fact, I LOVE studying. I LOVE physiology. But I can’t help worrying about the future, especially with the rise of AI (I suppose we’re all a bit shaken by it).

Fluffly

So, I’ve decided to approach my website and art creation with a light heart and purely for fun. I’ve discovered so many beautiful things on the old web that my heart literally skips a beat with joy. Every day, I update something small on my site, and it fills me with pride.

As for pixel art, I’ve really enjoyed creating little dolls and animals, and I think I’ll focus more on that. Anyway, this was just a quick update on my thoughts hehe.

P.S. Getting back to doing things for fun has also brought me back to reading. I’m currently reading One Hundred Years of Solitude (English Edition). The series is amazing too (Netflix)!
